About Us

The popularity of Modern Jive has taken it global over the last 25 years and our fabulous venues along this piece of sunny Mediterranean coastline live up to the glamour and style expected of Marbella and the Costa del Sol… …rapidly becoming known as the Costa del Jive.

JiveSpain is Spain’s biggest jive club and we welcome people of all nationalities whether you can dance, can’t dance or, when trying to dance, you find you have two left feet that want to fight with each other!

If you are on holiday here on the coast then you are more than welcome to come and join us as a visitor and go home with more than just a Spanish tan.

JiveSpain is as much a social club as a dance class and since we have been meeting to learn to dance ‘Modern Jive’ we have grown from 8 to 1,250 members. Less than 20 people could dance ‘Modern Jive’ (a blend of Jiving and Salsa that has gone global) before they joined our little club

Every night we have new members joining us that can’t dance one single step or insist that they dance with two left feet.  As founder of JiveSpain and the principal teacher I would love to take credit for so many people enjoying a new found skill but it’s the JiveSpain CREW, 12 very experienced dancers, that are primarily responsible. Each week they work hard to ensure that every new member is made welcome and can dance that evening’s routine by the end of the session.

Most of us are British ex pats but we welcome people from every country and our membership includes over 15 different nationalities.

We dance at different venues along the coast 51 weeks every year and then have one big party each year when we get together from all the venues and enjoy a dinner dance, usually with a dress theme.

Each evening lasts approximately 2 hours and costs 10 Euros. This can be reduced to 6.66 Euros by ‘block buying’ admission tickets.

Come and join us at any of our venues along the Costa del Sol. I promise that you will be made welcome from the moment you arrive, you will definitely learn to dance and over the weeks ahead, make so many new friends you won’t be able to afford enough Christmas cards.

PRIVATE LESSONS

Colin’s ‘PRIVATE LESSONS’ are designed to ‘Fast Track’ couples from ‘can’t dance’ to ‘can dance’ in hours rather than weeks. The lessons are always 2 hours long and follow a proven format that has never failed to deliver clients their own ‘personalized’ dance routine, especially those clients that insist - “you won’t teach me, I’ve got two left feet”.

All lessons are 2 hours long and include both Colin and Natalie Teaching one couple per 120 minute lesson: 100 Euros (50 Euros per person)
Two couples being taught at the same time: 120 Euros (30 Euros per person)

GROUP CLASSES

Attending Colin’s JiveSpain group classes is the perfect opportunity to practice the moves you have learned privately and increase the number of moves in your routine.  All private clients are offered complimentary membership of JiveSpain

Part of your PRIVATE LESSON will be the creation of your own dance routine consisting of 4 – 5 dance moves chosen from the 50 moves (plus variations) listed below which have selected from dance clubs and stage shows from around the world. Each move is then linked together and finally ‘looped’ into your own personalized routine. More moves can then be added at further PRIVATE LESSONS or at any of JiveSpain’s group classes.

To help you select the moves that suit you best, each move is demonstrated.
